11 Ways to Make Your Peace Lily Bloom

Posted on March 27, 2026 by Admin

A Peace Lily is loved for its glossy leaves and elegant white blooms—but it can be a bit picky about flowering. If yours has stopped blooming, here are 11 practical ways to encourage it to flower again:

🌿 1. Give It Bright, Indirect Light

Peace lilies won’t bloom in low light.

  • Place near a window with filtered sunlight
  • Avoid harsh direct sun (it can scorch leaves)

💧 2. Water Consistently (But Don’t Overdo It)

  • Keep soil slightly moist, not soggy
  • Let the top inch dry before watering again
  • Drooping = thirsty, but don’t make it a habit

🌱 3. Use the Right Soil

  • Well-draining potting mix is key
  • Avoid heavy, compact soil that holds too much water

🌡️ 4. Keep It Warm

  • Ideal range: 18–27°C (65–80°F)
  • Avoid cold drafts or sudden temperature drops

🌬️ 5. Increase Humidity

Peace lilies love tropical conditions.

  • Mist occasionally or use a humidity tray
  • Great for bathrooms or kitchens

🌼 6. Feed It (But Lightly)

  • Use a balanced houseplant fertilizer
  • Feed every 6–8 weeks in growing season
  • Too much fertilizer = lots of leaves, no flowers

🪴 7. Repot When Needed

  • If roots are crowded, blooming slows
  • Repot every 1–2 years into a slightly larger pot

✂️ 8. Remove Old Flowers

  • Cut spent blooms at the base
  • Helps the plant focus energy on new growth

🧽 9. Clean the Leaves

  • Dust blocks light absorption
  • Wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth

⏳ 10. Be Patient (Maturity Matters)

  • Young plants may not bloom yet
  • Mature plants flower more reliably

🌞 11. Try a Light Boost Trick

If it hasn’t bloomed in a long time:

  • Move it to a brighter spot for a few weeks
  • This often triggers flowering

🌟 Bonus Insight

Many store-bought peace lilies are treated with growth hormones to bloom. At home, blooms may take time—but with the right care, they will return naturally.
