Here’s a simple and flavorful recipe for slow-cooked pork chops—tender, juicy, and perfect for an easy dinner.


Slow-Cooked Pork Chops

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4 bone-in or boneless pork chops (about 1-inch thick)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup apple juice or apple cider
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Optional: sliced mushrooms or apples for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Season and sear the pork chops
    • Season pork chops with salt and pepper.
    • Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Sear chops 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  2. Prepare slow cooker
    • Place sliced onions (and mushrooms/apples if using) at the bottom of the slow cooker.
    • Add minced garlic.
  3. Mix liquids
    • In a bowl, combine chicken broth, apple juice, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard.
  4. Add pork chops and liquid
    • Place seared pork chops on top of the onions in the slow cooker.
    • Pour the liquid mixture over the chops. Sprinkle thyme or rosemary on top.
  5. Cook
    • Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until pork is tender and cooked through (internal temp 145°F/63°C).
  6. Serve
    • Remove chops, let rest a few minutes.
    • Optional: thicken juices into a gravy by simmering with a cornstarch slurry on the stove.
    • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted veggies.

Tips

  • For extra depth, add a splash of apple cider vinegar or a teaspoon of brown sugar.
  • Don’t skip searing—it locks in flavor and gives a nice color.
  • Use bone-in chops for juicier results.
