American goulash

Here’s a classic recipe for American Goulash—a comforting, cheesy pasta and beef dish that’s quick to make and perfect for family dinners. 🍝


Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) Tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) Diced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt & Black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups Elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 1 ½ cups Shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

1. Cook the beef

  • In a large skillet or pot, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until beef is browned and onions are soft.
  • Drain excess fat.
  • Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

2. Add tomatoes and seasonings

  • Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer for 10 minutes to blend flavors.

3. Cook the pasta

  • Add uncooked elbow macaroni to the sauce mixture.
  • Add 2 cups of water or broth.
  • Cover and simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.

4. Add cheese

  • Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings if needed.

5. Serve

  • Spoon into bowls and serve warm.
  • Optional: garnish with Fresh parsley or additional shredded cheese.

✅ Tips

  • For a richer flavor, use Beef broth instead of water when cooking pasta.
  • You can add vegetables like Bell peppers or Mushrooms for a hearty twist.
  • Leftovers reheat well and taste even better the next day.
