Amish cabbage noodles

Posted on March 16, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic Amish Cabbage Noodles recipe—a hearty, comforting dish that combines tender cabbage with soft noodles in a flavorful sauce. 🥬🍝

Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 1 small Head of cabbage, shredded
  • 1 lb Egg noodles
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Black pepper
  • Optional: ½ tsp Paprika or a pinch of Nutmeg

Instructions

1. Cook the noodles

  • Boil egg noodles according to package instructions.
  • Drain and set aside.

2. Cook the cabbage

  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic; sauté until soft and fragrant.
  • Add shredded cabbage, salt, pepper, and optional spices.
  • Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender but not mushy.

3. Combine with noodles

  • Add cooked noodles to the cabbage mixture.
  • Toss gently to combine and heat through for 2–3 minutes.

4. Serve

  • Transfer to a serving dish.
  • Optional: garnish with Fresh parsley or a little Grated Parmesan.

✅ Tips

  • For extra flavor, sauté the cabbage in Bacon drippings instead of butter.
  • Add cooked Ground beef or Sausage for a heartier meal.
  • Leftovers reheat well and taste even better the next day.

If you want, I can also give you a slow cooker version of Amish Cabbage Noodles that cooks while you do other things.
