Posted on March 22, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple, comforting recipe for Carrot and Potato Mash—smooth, slightly sweet, and perfect as a side dish for almost any meal.

🥕🥔 Carrot and Potato Mash

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 3–4 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4–1/2 cup milk (or cream)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Optional:

  • 1 clove garlic (for extra flavor)
  • Pinch of nutmeg or cumin
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Boil the vegetables
    • Place potatoes and carrots in a pot and cover with water.
    • Add a pinch of salt.
    • Bring to a boil and cook for 15–20 minutes, until both are soft.
  2. Drain and steam dry
    • Drain well and let sit for a minute to remove excess moisture.
  3. Mash
    • Add butter and mash until smooth (or leave slightly chunky if you like texture).
  4. Add milk and seasoning
    • Gradually add milk while mashing until creamy.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve warm
    • Garnish with herbs if desired.

💡 Tips

  • Use more potatoes for a creamier mash, more carrots for a sweeter taste
  • For extra richness, swap milk for cream
  • Add a little olive oil for a healthier twist

🍽️ Pairs Well With

  • Roasted chicken
  • Grilled meats
  • Stews or sausages

✨ Result: A smooth, buttery mash with a hint of natural sweetness from carrots—simple, nutritious, and very satisfying.

If you want, I can show you a spiced version (with garlic and herbs) that tastes like a restaurant-style side dish.
