  4. Remove excess fat if necessary, leaving about 1 tbsp in the pan.

4. Make the Sauce

  1. Stir in tomato paste and cook 1 minute.
  2. Add canned tomatoes, oregano, basil, and chili flakes.
  3. Simmer for 10–15 minutes until sauce thickens.

  5. If sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to loosen.

5. Combine Pasta and Sauce

  1. Toss the cooked spaghetti into the sauce until evenly coated.
  2. Let it cook together 1–2 minutes for the flavors to meld.

6. Serve

  • Plate the spaghetti, sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan, and garnish with fresh basil if desired.
