Posted on March 16, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a full, easy-to-follow Salisbury Steak with Onion Gravy recipe using your ingredients. 🍽️

Ingredients

For the steaks:

  • 500 g Ground Beef
  • ½ cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • ½ tsp Onion Powder
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper

For the onion gravy:

  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 large Onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 ½ cups Beef Broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Make the Salisbury Steaks

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix gently until combined—don’t overwork the meat.
  3. Shape into 4–6 oval patties.

2. Cook the Steaks

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tbsp butter or oil.
  2. Sear the patties 3–4 minutes per side until browned (they don’t need to be fully cooked yet).
  3. Remove patties and set aside.

3. Make the Onion Gravy

  1. In the same skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter.
  2. Add sliced onions and sauté until caramelized, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle flour over onions and stir for 1–2 minutes to cook the raw flour taste.
  4. Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  5. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer until gravy thickens.

4. Combine and Finish Cooking

  1. Return the steaks to the skillet, spooning gravy over them.
  2. Cover and simmer for 10–15 minutes until steaks are fully cooked through (internal temp ~160°F / 71°C).

5. Serve

  • Serve hot with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or rice. Spoon extra onion gravy over the top for maximum flavor.

✅ Tip: For extra flavor, you can add a dash of soy sauce or a sprinkle of paprika to the gravy.

If you want, I can also make a 30-minute one-pan version of this Salisbury Steak that’s super quick for weeknights.

Do you want me to do that?
